Inter- and transdisciplinary training across institutes
To secure the next generation of researchers in the field of translational drug research, within the indication area of immune diseases, the promotion of young scientists is a central concern of Fraunhofer CIMD.
The increasing complexity of immune-mediated diseases that have so far been insufficiently treatable poses great challenges for drug research. For this reason, new approaches are needed both for the transfer of fundamental findings from basic research to the development of novel or improved methods for the prevention, diagnosis or therapy of immune-mediated diseases (bench-to-bedside), and for the generation of hypotheses based on clinical observations and subsequent validation in the laboratory (bedside-to-bench). In the long term, this can only be achieved through innovative, practice-oriented and interdisciplinary training in biomedical research.
Only by combining core and partner institutes with their complementary expertise and competencies it is possible to create a unique construct of a young scientist program at Fraunhofer CIMD, bringing together physicians, natural scientists, data scientists and engineers to promote a common understanding of the different disciplines.
Fraunhofer CIMD has established a unique, transdisciplinary young scientists program operating along the 4Ds (Drugs, Diagnostics, Data, Devices), which is being successively further developed and expanded.
