Projects of the Fraunhofer Cluster of Excellence CIMD

The 4D concept

The Fraunhofer CIMD is dedicated to translational research. In other words, it transfers basic research into application. In doing so, the Fraunhofer CIMD works in the four major fields of health research – drugs, diagnostics, devices and data, the 4Ds. These represent, in principle, four professional groups: doctors, scientists, engineers and computer scientists – all of whom work under one roof at the Fraunhofer CIMD. The institutes' expertise is pooled and systematically combined to develop cost-effective solutions for a wide range of healthcare problems, for the benefit of patients.

We have included a diagram on each project page so that you can see at a glance which 4D sections are addressed in the individual projects. The proportions of the 4Ds are shown according to the characteristics of the respective area.
